change is good

The time has come to move my site to its new permanent home. WordPress has been very good to me and I will remember all the times we had together. He gave me a chance to focus on my photography and get my business off the ground. WordPress, thank you. What a true friend you’ve been. All good things, sadly, come to an end and my relationship with you is, well…finished, terminée, terminado, fertig, finito…okay. you get the idea.

What does this mean for you, my lovely readers? No more thinking, “Man, her website name is insanely long…I’ll never remember that. Allison who? Wright wordpress what? Could you repeat that? Why don’t you just write it down. That will work.” Those days are done! I am now the proud owner of…www.allisonwrightstudios.com

That’s right! My own domain. It may be a small feat in the eyes of some, but man…it makes me proud. It’s my own little chunk of internet space that I call my own. Literally. It is my name after all…

Over the next few days/weeks, I will be transferring over my favorite blog posts to keep them alive. It will be a work in progress so if you want to watch it being built, keep checking back. As soon as the backing up is complete, I will be adding many new photos, pages and information. Please contact me if you would like to set up a session.

a day at the park

To see the world through a child’s eyes is a way to bring yourself back to reality. As we grow older, we lose sight of all the simple things in life that bring complete joy to our soul. The simple act of throwing leaves up in the air and letting them fall in your face is a moment of sheer delight that this beautiful little girl revels in. Oh to find that much joy in a handful of leaves. If we could only keep in touch with our inner child. Maybe we would all be a little less stressed out.

Enjoy these beautiful photos of innocence and joy all wrapped up in a sweet and beautiful little girl. She ended the day with, “Thank you for playing with us today!” It about melted my heart into a little puddle.

My friend, Lori, invited me to a photoshoot. It initially started as a “trash the dress” shoot, but we decided the dress was way too pretty to get ruined so it turned into a “rock the dress” shoot! The model was gorgeous and man…she rocked that dress! Here are just a few from the day.

I’ve written, erased, rewritten, re-erased and rewritten this post. I’m SO pleased with these photos that I just don’t know how to put it into words. So, I won’t. Just look. This is a beautiful senior inside and out. Thank you so much for the opportunity to photograph you. I had a blast with you and your mom.

And yet she has trouble hearing “come…” She’s growing up too fast!

and puppy makes four

So. When you’ve trained your dog (in my case, it’s Cinder, my GSD)…

-not to chew on the furniture
-not to eat her porcelain bowl rather than the food IN the bowl
-not to chew up gloves and return them to you in a not so lovely fashion
-not to pee on your carpet
-that “go potty” means just that (NOT sit in the grass and stare at your owner for 10 minutes like she’s a complete moron)
-not to de-stuff your pillows and redecorate your room with feathers
-to sleep on YOUR schedule
-to walk nicely on a leash
-and, among other things, to “sit,” “stay,” “lay down,” “play dead,” “hold it,” “wait,” “high-five,” “back up,” “dry off” and “wipe your feet”…

…then it’s time to shake it up and add a new family member so you can start all over again! Welcome to our new four legged addition: Her name is Ember.

Oh wow. She just took off with my flat iron cord wrapped around her leg dragging it all over the house!! LOL Welcome to a wild ride! Today she (yes, in this order…) explored, slept, peed, played, slept, peed again (I swear to you she whined both times and I took her and she went), played, stole my flat iron (don’t worry, it wasn’t on) and is now sleeping again.

And for the record, she has sad little puppy eyes (my favorite!). This was just before a nap. She’s all tuckered out.

And check this out…she might look a lot like our current GSD. Here’s her puppy picture 7 years ago…

Cinder’s not so sure what to do with “it,” but they get along just fine which is a huge weight off my shoulders! Phew.

five luftballoons

A good friend of mine in Florida recently did a photo shoot with lots of props (including balloons!) and I was totally inspired. I haven’t picked up my camera for a while so I was ready for a challenge. I asked a couple of my friends if they wanted to do a model shoot and the answer was a resounding yes! I’ve never done a shoot with a theme to it (I was going for a vintage look) so I’m not sure if it came across exactly as I had imagined, but I’m quite happy with the results. I did tell them to be serious (in between the blooper outtakes that I shall not post…apparently there were some entertaining moments going on behind my back that made my model crack up every five seconds…) so that’s why there is not a lot of smiling going on in the chosen pictures. Nobody smiled in the pictures from days of old. Why is that? No matter the reason, the style is what it is. I don’t like to smile in my pictures either. Maybe I was born into the wrong generation.

I realize I went a little crazy with all the balloon photos, but I was really getting into it! I’m obliged to say that all five of the balloons were harmed by the end of the day. We sadly had an early casualty when the lone red balloon dared to get a little too close to the pine tree…there’s one in every group.
